Great place! We have been lucky enough to see multiple platypuses but, as the friendly guide told us, the animals are totally free therefore can wander wherever they feel like between the lake and the river. This means you might see them or not but in the latter case you don’t pay which shows great transparency by the management. Overall a very good experience worth the drive and the price, just 8.50$ pp! 5/5 26th August 2018

I wasn’t expecting to see platypus but we were pleasantly surprised by seeing about 5 or 6 playing in the water! It was the best! Also stopped for lunch, this was also terrific. All in all one of the best stops of our holiday.

Such a lovely place to spend the morning! And even if you aren't lucky enough to spot the illusive Platypus, it is still a great place to wander around, then sit for a drink or bite to eat at the cafe (which has amazing food) whilst looking out over the amazing view of the lakes! Staff were also super helpful and friendly!

The Australian Platypus Park is a hidden gem of the Tablelands. It’s a must for anyone holidaying in the Tablelands to visit. It’s genuinely unique with an exceptionally relaxing atmosphere and amazingly friendly staff that make you feel at home. The setting of the open cafe beside the lake, the fantastic food and drinks and the old fashioned country service provided are all the reasons you come to the tablelands, so make sure you drop in. You won’t want to leave.

What a great place for everyone wanting to see the shy platypus. We had a fun couple of hours watching the platypus at this very pleasant location. A beautiful dam for the platypus and we saw 4 or 5 different animals - some up very close- 3-4 meters. A special mention to our young guide Matthew who give us a very informative introduction to these fascinating animals and tips for how to spot them. There is a good cafe there serving good hot & cold food. Can recommend both the coffee and cakes.

You need to buy a ticket to go view the platypus lair, however you only pay if you actually see anything. They were also kind enough to tell us beforehand if it was a good viewing day or not (at the time it wasn't), so we didn't have to waste time.
